Lightning Strikes Twice

You know how some people say too much of a good thing isn’t good at all? At H2 Hub, however, we beg to differ, especially when it concerns highly popular timepieces that our dearest readers and customers have clamoured for.

This week, the spotlight falls on local watchmaker Aries Gold and their previously sold-out Lightning 7003 model, which incidentally, is now back in stores due to a limited production run. Just what makes this timepiece so sought after? We go behind the scenes with an Aries Gold representative for an exploration of the Lightning.

Q: The Lightning 7003 sports an industrial/sporty look. Was it inspired by any event or object in particular?

A: Our design team had always intended the Lightning to take after the chassis of a race car, complete with a skeletal watch dial to highlight its intricacies. It’s just one of the ways we challenge ourselves to create more innovative offerings for our customers, without them needing to burn a hole in their wallet.

Q: What other components do you think have contributed to the Lightning’s success?

A: Each feature has been carefully designed, bearing in mind real-life conditions of the wearers. For instance, the inclusion of a rubber strap not only gives it a sporty feel, but its improved water resistance is practical in the great outdoors too. This is all complemented by a stainless steel casing with complex brush strokes for added ruggedness, and the disc hands which evoke an industrial aesthetic.

Q: Let’s talk numbers. How are you able to achieve such quality at a price point that’s comparatively affordable?

A: You’re right on point in that regard, because very few brands offer such a complex dial in their timepieces for only S$285, which is what the Lightning retails for. More than that, it comes with anti-reflective sapphire glass, making it extremely value-for-money. As always, how we achieve this is down to our philosophy of keeping mark-ups low by doing away with unnecessary channel marketing and middlemen. If I reveal any more, I’d probably be out of a job!

This concludes our post for the week. Do remember to get the Lightning 7003 (RRP S$285) at your nearest H2 Hub outlet before stocks run out!
